IP Asset Scoring

Background

The fundamentally challenging aspect of permissionelss IP registrations on Story is IP legitimacy. Without a clear signal of IP's validity, creators are deterred from innovating and remixing on existing IPs, as their time, money and efforts could all go to waste if the parent IP(s) becomes invalidated. They would not only forfeit licensing rights and royalty fees, but also potentially be subject to additional compensation for the original IP creator's damages. Therefore, under this open IP registration and utilization regime, there needs to be a guiding signal on IP Assets reflecting the underlying asset's legitimacy and adoptability. Consequently, Verio developed the an IP Asset Scoring System along with Story to facilitate the use, innovation, and remixing of IPs.
